Les Grecs anciens avaient d\u00e9couvert qu\u2019en frottant l\u2019ambre jaune, ce mat\u00e9riau produit une attirance sur d\u2019autres objets l\u00e9gers et parfois des \u00e9tincelles.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Histoire:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Les effets de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 statique et du magn\u00e9tisme sont d\u00e9crits pour la premi\u00e8re fois en 600 av JC, par Thales Milet. On doit l&#8217;emploi moderne du terme \u00ab \u00c9lectricit\u00e9 \u00bb \u00e0 l&rsquo;Anglais William Gilbert, (de Colchester), qui distingue corps \u00e9lectriques et magn\u00e9tiques dans son De Magnete (1600). Il note les lois de r\u00e9pulsion et d&rsquo;attraction des aimants par leur p\u00f4le, assimile la Terre \u00e0 l&rsquo;un d&rsquo;eux, puis \u00e9tablit une liste des corps \u00e9lectrisables par frottement, apr\u00e8s avoir d\u00e9couvert l&rsquo;influence de la chaleur sur le magn\u00e9tisme du fer.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Les premiers g\u00e9n\u00e9rateurs de charges \u00e9lectriques sont des machines \u00e0 frottement.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Otto von Guericke, de Magdebourg, construit en 1663 une forme primitive de machine \u00e9lectrique: un globe de soufre en rotation frott\u00e9 \u00e0 la main.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Au XVIIIe si\u00e8cle d\u00e9bute une p\u00e9riode d&rsquo;observation et de cr\u00e9ation d&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 statique.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">En 1733, du Fay d\u00e9couvre les charges positives et n\u00e9gatives et observe leurs interactions. Coulomb en \u00e9nonce les premi\u00e8res lois physiques.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">En 1750, via des exp\u00e9riences sur la foudre, Benjamin Franklin identifie l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 naturelle, canalis\u00e9e par le paratonnerre.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">En 1799, Alessandro Volta cr\u00e9e la pile \u00e9lectrique.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">En avril 1820, lors d&rsquo;un cours sur l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 qu&rsquo;il faisait \u00e0 ses \u00e9tudiants, Oersted d\u00e9couvre la relation entre l&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 et le magn\u00e9tisme dans une exp\u00e9rience qui nous appara\u00eet aujourd&rsquo;hui comme tr\u00e8s simple : un fil transportant du courant est capable de faire bouger l&rsquo;aiguille aimant\u00e9e d&rsquo;une boussole.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">En 1820, Andr\u00e9-Marie Amp\u00e8re d\u00e9couvre les lois du magn\u00e9tisme et de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectrodynamique. Suivent la dynamo du Belge Z\u00e9nobe Gramme en 1868, l&rsquo;ampoule \u00e9lectrique \u00e0 incandescence de Thomas Edison en 1879, ann\u00e9e de la premi\u00e8re centrale hydro\u00e9lectrique (7 kW) \u00e0 Saint-Moritz (Suisse).<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Aristide Berg\u00e8s d\u00e9veloppe le concept de houille blanche, avec la premi\u00e8re ligne \u00e9lectrique, de Lucien Gaulard et John Dixon Gibbs, en 1883. D\u00e8s 1889, un fil de 14 km relie la cascade des Jarrauds et la ville de Bourganeuf, dans la Creuse.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">En 1831, Michael Faraday d\u00e9couvre que, si le courant produit un champ magn\u00e9tique, l&rsquo;inverse est vrai : on peut faire du courant \u00e9lectrique en mettant en mouvement un champ magn\u00e9tique.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">La premi\u00e8re ligne sous haute tension est construite en 1891 par l&rsquo;entreprise Allemande Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon (de). Elle transportait l&rsquo;\u00e9nergie \u00e9lectrique sous 25 000 V \u00e0 40 Hz, sur 175 km entre Lauffen am Neckar et Frankfurt en Allemagne . Les pertes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 seulement de 4 %, ce qui a mis fin \u00e0 la controverse entre les d\u00e9fenseurs du syst\u00e8me de transport en courant continu et ceux, gagnants, partisans du transport en courant alternatif.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">La ville Heilbronn (Allemagne) est en 1892 la premi\u00e8re ville en Europe \u00e9quip\u00e9e d&rsquo;un syst\u00e8me de distribution en \u00e9lectricit\u00e9 par un r\u00e9seau de distribution en courant alternatif.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Dans les ann\u00e9es 1900, les progr\u00e8s technologiques de l&rsquo;hydro\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 suisse sont \u00e0 l&rsquo;origine d&rsquo;intenses sp\u00e9culations boursi\u00e8res sur les soci\u00e9t\u00e9s hydro\u00e9lectriques, qui profitent aux implantations industrielles dans les Alpes. L&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 investit l&rsquo;industrie, l&rsquo;\u00e9clairage public et le chemin de fer, avant d&rsquo;entrer dans les foyers. La forte expansion \u00e9lectrique des ann\u00e9es 1920 permet un maillage du territoire dans les grands pays industriels. La France b\u00e9n\u00e9ficie alors d&rsquo;une multiplication par huit de la production d&rsquo;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 hydraulique gr\u00e2ce aux premiers barrages.
